My paintings reflect my decorative impulse and extensive research of colors and designs from all over the world. These images pay an homage to geometry and architecture while mining the subconscious archtypes and motifs that have been passed down across generations.
"Decoration exists in the realm adjacent to the idea of 'death', on the edge of opulent illusions and the boundary separating life from death. This may be the resaon why we find decorations both attractive and repulsive. A decorative mind finds herself in an ambivalent territory, feeling a mixed sentiment of repulsion and intoxication." Exerpts from Ornatus Japonicus by Mayumi Tsuruoka, Art Historian.
